The TikTok deal is finally done

The TikTok USDS Joint Venture’s mission is to secure US user data, apps and algorithms through comprehensive data privacy and cybersecurity measures. You will protect the US content ecosystem through strong trust, safety, and content moderation policies while ensuring ongoing accountability through transparency reporting and third-party certifications.

Data protection: US user data will be protected by USDS Joint Venture in Oracle’s secure US cloud environment. The joint venture will operate a comprehensive data privacy and cybersecurity program that will be audited and certified by external cybersecurity experts. The software will adhere to key industry standards, including National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) CSF 800-53 and ISO 27001 as well as Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) security requirements for restricted transactions.

Algorithmic security: The joint project will retrain, test and update the content recommendation algorithm on US user data. The content recommendation algorithm will be secured in the US Oracle cloud environment.

Software warranty: The joint venture will secure US applications through software assurance protocols, and ongoing source code review and validation, with the help of trusted security partner, Oracle.

Trust and security: The joint venture will protect the US content ecosystem and will have decision-making authority regarding trust, safety, and content moderation policies.
