Level Lock Pro (2026) review: Smart but stylish

But the internal lock of this lock is able to hold a huge amount of technology. There’s a new dual-core chipset that has plenty of compatibility and unlocking options, including topic and NFC tags, and the dual core means it can run Bluetooth and Matter on separate cores. It is also compatible with Apple Home Key, as well Google Home, Amazon AlexaAnd Samsung SmartThings. It’s fast and responsive when I use the app to unlock it, although the unlock method I usually use is optional Level Keyboard ($79) (The lock does not come with a keypad), which connects to the lock via Bluetooth. The lock responds instantly when I enter the code on the pad, which I installed on the door frame.

The Level Lock Pro can also sense whether a door is open or closed without the need for any additional accessories. It uses a magnetometer to sense the position of a closed door, and you will calibrate it once you set it up. It worked well for me, although he had a weird week where he claimed my door was open when it wasn’t. While the magnetometer is supposed to use the Earth’s gravitational field, I was able to fix the open door issue by realigning the strike plate on the door jamb, which had become loose and ended up at an odd angle. (Installing and removing many smart locks has left the door jamb and its bolt holes worse for wear, to say the least, so this isn’t an issue people typically have to face.)

The app is also easy to use and easy on the eyes. It’s a very nice interface, with a customizable background and instant confirmation if your door is closed or open. You’ll tap the three dots in the corner so your device can see the Settings, Sharing, and Activities options, which you can tap to adjust different settings, create different access codes, and see when your door has been unlocked and by whom. It synced easily and instantly with my Amazon Alexa ecosystem, and I could ask Alexa if the door was locked. Alexa can’t open it by default, but you can go into the Alexa app to toggle that. I chose not to do this; No one should be able to voice command to open the front door.

Unlike other smart locks that use bulky battery packs or multiple AA batteries, the Level Lock Pro uses a single CR2 lithium battery. The lock comes with a non-rechargeable CR2 battery made by Level, but you can replace it with any CR2 battery once it dies. It’s the same battery the brand has been using with its previous locks, but the Lock Pro has been designed to make better use of it so it lasts longer. While the previous Lock+ had a battery life of about six months, the Level Lock Pro is expected to get about a year of battery life from a single CR2 battery.
