Excel D080B-051B (Out of stock): The main advantage of the surge protector was that instead of solid outlets on a flat frame like most surge protectors, it had five short cables with outlets at the end. The Accell is rated at 1,080 joules and has a safety cut-off feature like many heavy-duty surge protectors. This is fine, but its unique shape makes it difficult to recommend for average condition.
Belkin SRA007p12tt6: This is a sleek looking 12-outlet surge protector with a matte white finish that will work better on a desk or any visible place than most other large surge protectors. Six of its ports are widely spaced, and there are two 2.4A USB-A ports and a 3A USB-C port (max combined output 4.5A). The wall plug is conveniently positioned at a 90-degree angle at the end of the 6-foot cable.
AmazonBasics Smart Power Strip: The Amazon strip is fine, if you’re an Alexa user, but it lacks other smart features, and $40 is too high a price for a limited surge protector.
Belkin BE112230: This model uses the same flat design as the switched Belkin F7C01008q, just without the switch. It has six wide-spaced ports, a high protection level of up to 3,940 joules and a warranty on connected equipment.
Belkin BST300bg: This is a decent travel alternative to Accell. It has three ports on the front and two USB ports on the top. The plug swivels so you can direct it multiple ways. The Accell is a little smaller, but that’s a good runner-up.
Belkin BSV300ttCW: This wall-mounted model has three outlets and two USB ports, all on the front. The most interesting design feature is the covered top surface where you can tilt your phone while charging.
Eve energy sector: This power strip was probably originally intended to provide an Apple-focused experience for those with an iPhone or iPad (which were required to use a surge protector). The problem is that other models from brands like Tapo offer unrestricted Apple compatibility at much lower prices, leaving this power segment far behind.
