OnePlus has used two key tricks to achieve long battery life for such a small watch. The first is silicon-carbon batteries, which have a higher storage density than other batteries of the same size, so this watch packs a 631 mAh battery into its surprisingly sleek frame. There are also two operating systems running at the same time, with the Qualcomm chip handling all the Wear OS 5 features and the BES2800 running all the background tasks. The result is a massive runtime of five days in normal mode or up to 16 days in power saving mode, enough for an entire trip.

It features a 1.5-inch AMOLED display, which may be large for some people, but I wear the 45mm Casio every day, so its size seems attractive to me. It has great performance, with no stuttering or lag, and has all the features you’d expect from a full Wear OS watch, like fitness tracking, navigation, and even phone calls and texting.

Although it also has ECG capability, OnePlus hasn’t received approval for use in the US or Canada, but you’ll find other classics like a heart rate monitor, sleep tracking, and fall detection, all of which work just as they do in the first-party offerings.

Between the long battery life, gorgeous display, and smooth Wear OS implementation, it certainly looks like OnePlus has become a real competitor to the Pixel Watch.
