The Motorola Signature is the Moto phone I’ve wanted for years

in Consumer Electronics Show 2026Among humanoid robots with artificial intelligence, Bright concepts and The next generation of foldable devicesit was a Motorola phone that could be the flagship device that fans have been waiting for. while Motorola Razr Fold It’s been the talk of the town (after all, it’s the company’s first ever book-style foldable phone), and there’s a premium smartphone with high specs and a cutting-edge design: the Motorola Signature.

Recent high-end Motorola phones have good-looking hardware but fall short in one or more areas, including display, performance, cameras, software, or battery. The Motorola Signature is the first flagship phone from the company that feels confident enough to take on heavyweights like Galaxy S26 Plus and iPhone 17without tripping over hardware or software. It seems to be a phone that doesn’t have any major downsides, at least on paper.

I tried out the Motorola Signature, which I found to be a breath of fresh air. I can admit that I’m finally excited for a Motorola phone that isn’t a Razr.

The Motorola Signature has a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1264 x 2780 pixels and supports a refresh rate of 165 Hz. It’s an LTPO panel, so it can be set to 1Hz for the always-on display, thus saving battery life. The display is rated to provide 6,200 nits of peak brightness for supported HDR content. Her decision may not be as sharp as Galaxy S25 UltraBut it is a promising screen for gaming and content consumption.

On the back, you get three cameras: a 50MP main camera with OIS, paired with a 50MP telephoto camera with a 3x zoom lens and OIS, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. These are the same cameras you’ll find on the upcoming Razr Fold phone. Sony is behind all of these optics, which I expect will help these Motorola cameras be a significant upgrade over current-gen phones.

Signature features a 5200 mAh silicon-carbon battery, which supports 90-watt wired charging and 50-watt wireless charging. If these speeds continue, the battery may fill quickly using either method.

The new Motorola phone will not be as powerful as the new Motorola phone OnePlus 15But it must occupy its place in the main category. It’s supported by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 fifth generation The chipset (which sits below the 8 Elite Gen 5) is paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Although it’s not the highest-end chip available, this chip will likely still pack plenty of power, which puts it in the range of last year’s high-end phones, such as OnePlus 13 and Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The best part? All this in a slim and lightweight design. The Motorola Signature is 6.99mm thick and weighs just 186 grams. For context, Galaxy S25 Pluswith a smaller battery that is 7.3 mm thick and weighs 190 grams, while most modern large phones weigh 200 grams or more.

I had a good experience holding the signature for the first time. I didn’t expect it to be so light. In my short hands-on demo, I liked how it felt in my hand. I love the linen-inspired finish on the back, which sets it apart from the competition. The phone wasn’t slippery and was also more comfortable to hold than most flagship phones with flat sides.

Like its Edge siblings, the Signature is rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance.

The Motorola Signature will ship with Android 16 and will get seven years of Android OS and security updates. This is on par with Google pixel and Samsung Galaxy The phones are better than what OnePlus has to offer. The new software update policy should instill confidence in people considering the brand for their next smartphone.

Motorola will sell the Signature in two color options: Pantone Martini Olive and Pantone Carbon (I like olive best). It is priced at €999 (about US$1,170) and is scheduled to launch in select European countries, with a launch in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific over the coming months.

Unfortunately, the Motorola Signature won’t be coming to the US.
