CES 2026: LG’s latest washer and dryer lineup solves the biggest problems with integrated appliances

The era of the “all-day wash cycle” is officially over, as of Consumer Electronics Show 2026. For many years, the washer and dryer hybrid was a total joke because you could practically grow a beard in the time it takes to dry one pair of jeans. But technology has finally caught up with the hype and the laundry room is about to look a lot different.

The highlight of the show this week is the slotless LG Signature range which is a complete middle finger to those slow devices of old. LG was able to design a system that can unload a full ten-pound load in about ninety minutes. Cutting thirty minutes from the previous record isn’t just a simple adjustment; It’s a massive engineering win that proves you no longer need two separate devices taking up space in your home.

This machine uses advanced heat pump technology to handle the drying aspect without the need for a vent which means you can stick this thing anywhere with a water connection. This is the first time a combo unit has felt comfortable rather than a compromise. If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to restore half of your laundry room floor, this is the machine that makes the switch easy.

The previous version of the LG washer and dryer (pictured here) took over two hours for a single cycle. The new model reduces time to 90 minutes.

LG’s combo washing machines were already the best in their class

I have been using LG’s latest generation combo machine For two years now. I rarely do laundry for more than two people, but I’ve had nothing but good experiences with the unit — so much so that I’ve enthusiastically put it on our to-do list The best washing machines.

It definitely takes longer to dry a load than a standalone dryer—a full cycle takes about two hours, sometimes longer—but for me, the convenience of not having to switch laundry between washing and drying is worth the extended cycle time. There are also advantages that the machine takes up less space and does not need a ventilation hole.

With a new 90-minute cycle time, LG’s combo washer is on par with a standard wash and dry cycle done using separate machines, making it an even more compelling option for those who can afford the premium machine.

AI features make LG devices more efficient

LG’s built-in washing machines feature an AI-powered wash cycle that adjusts water usage and drying time based on load size.

LG’s Signature Series washers and dryers feature AI load detection (a feature I use almost exclusively). Using a built-in scale, the machine senses how big or small the load you’re washing and adjusts water usage and drying time accordingly. It also has smart dispensers for detergent and fabric softeners, so you’ll only use enough and never overuse.

The entire digital control system can be managed from a mobile device via the LG ThinkQ smart home and ecosystem app.

These ventless machines are also kinder to fabrics, because they use air drying rather than hot drying, unlike standard machines. This fast-moving dry air mimics natural outdoor drying, so clothes are less likely to be damaged during the average cycle and, in theory, last longer.

Pricing and availability

A price and launch date for the LG washer and dryer combo were not provided, but reps tell me it will be early 2026. The previous model retails for up to $2,000. I expect this model to launch at a mark closer to $3,000.
