in Interview with DeadlineVertical videos can take many different forms, from original shorts to clips from social media to clips crafted from TV shows and movies in Disney’s library, said Erin Teague, executive vice president of product management at Disney.
Teague, a former YouTube executive, said the company wants to create a “bite-bit experience” and advance daily viewing habits on the Disney Plus app among its viewers.
Disney also owns ESPN, which debuted vertical videos on its app in the second half of last year as part of a plan Restart the application. Disney said at CES that its movie “Verts” was a success. “The experience will evolve as it expands to include news and entertainment and deliver a more personalized, dynamic experience that cements Disney Plus as a must-visit everyday destination,” Disney said in its announcement.
