For the past few years I’ve written for CNET The strangest gadgets at CES Roundup, though Consumer Electronics Show 2026 I haven’t even started, I’ve already found this year’s nominee The best of CES Exotic Tech Prize: Hisense S6 FollowMe Display.
This little guy is a 32-inch 4K smart display with far-field microphones and a built-in camera. It’s designed to be used for video calling, streaming, or searching the Internet. There’s a built-in battery good for up to 10 hours of use, an anti-glare low-reflective panel and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.
And therein lies the problem: the TV “follows users throughout the home” and is able to “easily move from floor height to table height.”
My big question is: why? Do you really need a monitor on a telescopic pole that follows you around like a bored toddler?
Hisense press release I was very careful not to mention AI other than the Smart TV Assistant, but I suspect FollowMe uses Google TV and Google Gemini. Artificial intelligence is creeping into everything, as well Seamus O’Reilly wrote in The Gistespecially when it is not needed. Is this Hisense S6 another example of an AI device designed to harass us into using it?

Robots are a big draw at CESIt’s been a year since we last heard from her bali samsung. This Hisense device is a more fragile and difficult-looking version of that ball-shaped robot. Unlike Bali or Amazon Astro RobotThis is not a holographic display but a literal TV on wheels.
I think something like this Samsung’s “stupid” motion style It is closer to the mark. It’s a smart display on a cart that you can manually pop out when you need it, and it doesn’t look at you expectantly when you’re not using it.
Hisense representatives did not immediately respond to my request for comment.
The Hisense S6 FollowMe Display will be available in the US starting May 1, 2026, and while we don’t know the price yet, a similar-looking Samsung Movingstyle costs $1,200.
