Duolingo has been launched Explain my answer in 2023, but it’s limited to Duolingo Max, which costs $30 per month or $168 per year. The feature explains grammar rules, such as grammatical gender, and provides more examples to help you understand why you made a mistake.

After you answer a question in a language lesson correctly or not, an “Explain my answer” button will appear near the bottom of your screen. When you click this button, the feature will explain the different parts of the question on a single slide or multiple slides depending on the question.
I found this feature useful for learning the grammar of a particular language. The lessons don’t always explain what the different rules for tenses are, for example, and these explainers seem more useful than rote memorization. This feature allows me to understand why things are correct or incorrect, not just what the correct answer looks like.
An explanation of my answer will be available to English speakers learning Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, and Korean. Duolingo is working on bringing this feature to other languages and free plans on Android devices in the future.
