Welcome to the dead week of the year, when all sane people log off to spend time with their families. This is when I usually write at least one weird post while I’m working on vacation. One time I was left alone on New Year’s Day and posted articles about cats all day and people got really angry! No one allowed me to run the site on my own after that.

I’m supposed to give you some information about what I want to talk about, but even I don’t know what my rhythm is anymore. I’m somehow our business correspondent, in-house media critic, our heavy metal expert, and long-time (and long-suffering) Elon Musk personality disorder specialist, and in addition, I also manage to write sideline on pop culture, politics, and legal issues, including fraud trials. Sometimes I check out outdoor technology as an excuse to go backpacking for a couple of weeks. Anyway, Verge subscribers can ask me anything and the rest of you can have sex right away.
