Has Wordle kept you busy this year? Some words are more challenging than others. incoming mail– Verbal answer April 19 – The Wordle puzzle was the most difficult of the year in the US, according to language learning platform Preply, which connects learners with teachers.
Preply identified the most difficult words by analyzing Google search interests in “Wordle hint” in each puzzle from January to November. It selected the most difficult puzzles by examining which ones “produced the greatest relative increases nationally and within each U.S. state.”

Preply listed nine more words ranked as the toughest of 2025. (August 13-14 appears to be a particularly stressful period for puzzle fans.) Here’s a look at the top 10.

EDIFY – which means to guide or improve – and KEFIR – a fermented milk drink – may have generated a lot of Google searches.
But not all single words were mind busters. Preply found that the easiest puzzles to solve in 2025 are CHAIR (September 11), BLUNT (September 24), and SPORT (May 27).
Spotify wrapped for Wordle, sort of
You are aware Spotify wrappedSpotify Songs, the annual per-user music service report. There is a similar annual compendium for YouTube videos. Now, The New York Times is starting to pick up on the trend End of year summary For players of Wordle and other games, such as Connections.
For Wordle, the Times Year in Games report shows how many days you solved a puzzle, what time of day you did most of your solving, which Wordle you solved the fastest, how many guesses it took on average, and which word was most popular at the start.
For Connections, it shows how many times you’ve solved it without any errors, what the most difficult puzzle of the year is (hint: the one with all the symbols) and which color category you usually solve first.
For the Spelling Bee, it shows how many words you’ve found throughout the year, what’s the longest word you’ve found, how many times you’ve used the 7 letters to find a pangram, and how many times you’ve reached Genius level.
For Strands, it shows how many times you’ve solved it without any hints and what your longest linear string is.
The tour also showcases the most played game of the year. (Connections to win!) As with other similar rounds, you can share a summary of your results if you want.
