GNOME blocks extensions created by artificial intelligence Edge

The number of packages submitted to EGO is growing every month and we see more and more people joining the extension community to create their own extensions. Some days, I spend 6+ hours a day reviewing 15,000+ lines of additional code and answering to the community.

In the past couple of months, we’ve received several new accessories for the EGO. This is a good thing because it can grow the add-on community further, but there is one issue with some of the packages. Some developers use AI without understanding the code.

This has led to receiving packages containing many unnecessary lines and bad practices. Once a bad practice is introduced in one package, it can create a domino effect, which shows up on other extensions. This alone has increased the waiting time for all packages to be reviewed.
