AT&T launches Connected lifea new smart home security offering built around Google Home that continues to work during a power or internet outage. Connected Life can be self-installed and features Google Nest smart home cameras and Google Nest security devices residenceIn addition to professional monitoring.
This follows Google releases APIs For its smart home platform last year, which is also used by ADT’s latest security system, ADT Plus. Connected Life is AT&T’s latest attempt to enter the home security world after shutting down Digital Life in 2022, a 3G-based home automation and security service that… It was launched in 2013.
Connected Life requires a subscription and AT&T wireless service or internet. Plans start at $10.99 per month for 30 days of video history, smart alerts that notify you about “familiar faces, people, pets, packages and more,” and AT&T cellular backup to keep the system online during outages. The “Pro Plan” for $21.99 per month includes those features mentioned above, plus 24/7 monitoring from Abode.
There are two hardware packages available. The $399 starter kit includes the Google Nest Doorbell, A security center for housing (with backup battery), interior motion sensor, and two door/window sensors. The advanced kit includes additional Abode sensors, a keyboard, and a wall-mounted keyboard, plus a battery-powered Google Nest camera for $699. There is also the option to pay monthly for devices.
