McDonald’s Snack Wraps, a chicken and tortilla dish that was missing from the Golden Arches’ American locations, returned to US restaurants on July 10 — and after all that buildup, I had to try both flavors immediately.
McDonald’s Snack Wraps debuted in 2006 and were supposed to be a chicken nugget That would appeal To drive customers because they have less mess when eating while traveling. Both types include white-meat chicken strips known as McCrispy Strips wrapped in a tortilla with shredded cheese and lettuce. McCrispy Strips are a modified version of the chicken nugget formerly known as Chicken Selects.
The two types of McDonald’s Snack Wraps are labeled as either Spicy or Ranch, so if you try both, you’ll know which is which.
The McDonald’s Ranch Snack Wrap is worth the wait
If there’s a basic or classic version of the two Snack Wraps on offer, it’s the Ranch Snack Wrap. It consists of a McCrispy chicken patty wrapped in a flour tortilla, sprinkled with shredded lettuce and shredded cheese, and lightly drizzled with the chain’s signature McCrispy Ranch sauce.
Honestly, I was a little worried that the Ranch Snack Wrap wouldn’t live up to all the hype. Two days before the McDonald’s rolls came out, I tried a very similar chicken snack wrap Popeyes Louisiana Kitchenanother fast food franchise that has jumped on the snack bandwagon. It was delicious, but chicken is Popeyes’ raison d’être. Those wraps were so good, in fact, that I wondered if McDonald’s, not a chicken chain by nature, could compete.
Good news: The McDonald’s Ranch Snack Wrap is delicious, and it’s just as good as the Popeyes version. You will immediately notice that it is strangely designed. The tortilla is huge compared to the relatively small piece of chicken, and if you don’t move the chicken up the first few bites will be a regular tortilla and little else.
But the chicken is fresh and juicy, the cheese and lettuce are good additions, and the ranch dressing brings a creamy taste of herbs and spices that blends well with the chicken. Note that delivering the sauce was kind of a hit or miss, so you may want to add a dose of your ranch dressing if you want an even distribution of the sauce.
The McDonald’s Ranch snack wrapper has been opened so you can see exactly what’s inside. A longer slice of chicken would have eliminated those first few empty bites of the flour tortilla.
But it’s McDonald’s, not a fancy Michelin-starred restaurant, so who expects perfection? If I was eating at McDonald’s, I would order a Ranch Snack Wrap with a basic burger or a McChicken sandwich every day of the week.

McDonald’s Spicy Snack Wrap Review: The sauce is the weak point
The Spicy Snack Wrap also features a McCrispy Chicken Strip inside a flour tortilla, again sprinkled with shredded lettuce and cheese. But this time, the sauce is McDonald’s orange hot pepper sauce. And this is the problem.

I love spice, and often add Sriracha or hot honey to my sandwiches, but I didn’t like McD’s hot pepper sauce. It was very sweet and dominated every bite, so while the chicken itself was the same juicy, crunchy ribbon as the Ranch Snack Wrap, its flavor was buried. There’s no doubt that it comes with a kick, though, as I was still hot 20 minutes after eating lunch.
If I order McDonald’s Snack Wraps again, I’ll stick with the Ranch Snack Wraps and substitute the Spicy Snack Wraps. But if you want to try both, I noticed on the McDonald’s app that you can order a combo meal including a Ranch Snack Wrap, a Spicy Snack Wrap, fries and a drink.

Fans are suffering from Snack Wrap fever
McDonald’s snacks are back.

A Latest analysis conducted by VegasInsider.com It found that the Snack Wrap was the most searched for McDonald’s discontinued menu item for 2025.
