New feature On X revealed that a number of Major MAGA Accounts The platform is operated by people residing abroad. In the days that followed the disclosure of these accounts, President Donald Trump I continued to promote many of them.
Many of the accounts, which have large followings and claim to be accounts of conservative people residing in Texas or “America First” accounts that “promote good and resistance to evil,” are in fact operating everywhere in the world. Chilean and Nigeria to Russia And across Eastern Europe.
These accounts post largely about divisive issues, including immigration, gender, and Israel. In one case, a verified account called MAGA NATION with nearly 400,000 followers and the American flag in its screen name was revealed to be operated from a non-EU country in Eastern Europe. Many accounts feature Names of Trump family members, including Ivanka Trump’s news account, which has more than 1 million followers and is based in Nigeria. The account has since been suspended.
On Saturday, Trump shared on Truth Social a screenshot of X’s post from an account called “Fan Trump Army.” The account has more than 500,000 followers and features a photo of Trump as its profile picture. The account operator, according to X’s new location feature, is based in India. The account follows several people convicted for their roles in the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, as well as former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.
In recent days, the account owner changed his biography to read: “An Indian who loves America, President Trump, Musk!” However, an earlier version of the account’s bio did not mention that the account was run by someone in India.
On Sunday, Trump shared another screenshot of X’s post on Truth Social, this time from a verified X account with the screen name: “Commentary Donald J. Trump.”
The screenshot says: “Do you support the idea of banning foreign-born citizens from running for office? Yes or no.” The post also included a photo of Rep. Ilhan Omar with Omar Fateh, the Somali-American state representative in Minnesota who ran unsuccessfully for mayor of Minneapolis earlier this month. The account has a photo of the president as his profile picture with a bald eagle in front of the American flag as his background photo. According to the new X feature, the account appears to be operated from somewhere in Africa. (In some cases, X does not specify the country, but only the continent or region.)
In response to Trump’s post, many called for a ban on foreign-born citizens holding political office, with some posters going so far as to call for the deportation of Omar and Fatah.
