I have two young children. These are the shark vacuums I swear by.

I wish I could tell you that my son was not an animal. But unlike his older sister, Type A, he’s a bull in a china shop. Wild card. A hot potato. Somehow the whole house became their playground. A graveyard of dolls on every floor, socks strewn in the hallway and pieces of blocks strewn about.

Even though I’ve had to loosen my grip on a tidy, Instagram-worthy home, I try to keep the space clean. We have 85 lbs. A golden retriever that leaves clumps of hairballs in its wake. We try to keep my son at the table while he eats, but sometimes we let him eat cheese puffs or melted coconut in the living room. (Notice the crumbs.) If my daughter could cover the walls in rainbow glitter, she would do it. Which means a high-performance, easy-to-use vacuum is my best friend. My mental health depends on it.
Shark products have long been a favorite for their powerful motors and nozzles that get the job done. Whether you’re wrangling the little humans in your house or not, I can attest that these three vacuums clean up even the messiest of messes: dog hair, piles of dirt and all.

This vacuum has Shark’s most powerful cordless suction and takes pride of place in our living room. Features a DuoClean brush® Nozzle detects floor types, edges and dirt you never knew existed. It’s designed to smoothly clean hard floors and carpets simultaneously, and has a run time of up to 70 minutes. Probably my favorite feature is the auto-emptying base that empties and charges the vacuum after each cleaning. I have a severe allergy to dust and this feature was extremely important to me. Plus, placing it on the base means it’s always charged, unloaded and ready for the next round. If you’re a fan of the latest cleaning technology, this model is perfect for parents and pet owners looking to upgrade their traditional or cordless vacuum.

This new model has the powerful cordless suction you’d expect from Shark, but what’s especially cool is that it also has a blue LED light in the nozzle that detects fine dust and hair in low-light areas. I’ve found that blue light detects fine dust better than standard white headlights. It has a flexible wand to reach under furniture and automatically adapts to different floors with FloorDetect. (Less work for you!) Although it doesn’t have an automatic vacuum base like the PowerDetect, this option is a great choice for those who live in a big city or live in a smaller space, but still want a smart, high-powered clean.

Sometimes, the mess you’re cleaning doesn’t need all of it. I love this hand vacuum for its slim, compact shape and dynamic cleaning power. It’s extremely lightweight – less than 1.5 lbs.! -It barely takes up any space on the floor. It’s specially designed to tackle kitchen spills, baseboard dust, and car clutter. (I could feed an army with the amount of cookie crumbs littering the seams of my car seats.) But you don’t need kids with sticky fingers to keep this model within reach. It is also ideal for car enthusiasts and those who like extremely clean space.
