Death Stranding 2 It was a huge success and would be a contender for Game of the Year, but the series hasn’t caught a break. Hideo Kojima’s post-apocalyptic world is already set to begin Live action movie, Animated film And a recently announced series is coming to Disney Plus.
Stranded Death: Isolation It is an animated series coming in the year 2027 and only available on Disney Plus. Its trailer says the show will tell an “all-new story” separate from the game. As a fan of both games, I’m all for learning more about the world of Death Stranding.
The official series synopsis is:
Somewhere in North America, just as Sam Bridges walks across the continent in order to save America, people are also trying to deal with their isolation in their own way. An old man tries to achieve redemption through methods beyond the contact advocated by Bridges. A warrior trying to start a world of constant combat. A boy has a grudge against bridges. A girl embracing loneliness.
On the brink of the end of humanity and the world, their destinies and hopes intersect, and another Death Stranding story begins.
And now comes another explosion.
The series synopsis says the show will focus on four people who survive while Sam Bridges tries to reconnect with North America, which likely means it takes place during the event of the first Death Stranding game. This makes for a different time frame than… A live-action film centered on the Death Stranding eventMaking it an introduction to games or animated movie, Death Strand: Mosquitoeswhich appears to focus on the MULE, the hostile group that steals from the Bridges’ porters, so this movie could come between the first and second games.
What Isolations can do, as the name suggests, is focus on loneliness in Death Stranding. Kojima told him Feeling lonely after leaving Konami It played into the game’s themes and the importance of connecting with others. What embodies this in the game are the people in bunkers all over the country.
In the game, Sam visits underground facilities inhabited by tens of thousands of people Capital node citywhich can be assumed to be the name of the game for Washington, D.C. However, preppers are individuals who have their own small underground homes, which can consist of an entire family, or in many cases, just one person. These people are completely isolated from everyone except a lone porter like Sam who comes along.
It’s these stories that make me so interested in isolation. In games, we meet these people only through quests. Their first interaction with Sam has them excited to see him and ask him to bring them an item as part of the quest. In some cases, completing these quests will unlock more of a person’s story, but not much, as they are not of great importance to the game. Their presence in the game is to give players more to do and new equipment for Sam to equip.

Some examples of more interesting preparers include the preparer referred to as Sheikh Since the first game, he came to the country as an immigrant, but grew to distrust the government because he believed it did not care about those who were not born in the country. There too Veteran Porterwhich gave players a bit of background on series antagonist Higgs, as well as some insight into being a porter, which we don’t get much of in the game.
Death Stranding: Isolations may not feature Mosquito action or address the major mysteries explored in the live-action film. It could still provide the kind of back story that deepens the game’s lore, which is what fans like me are excited to see.
