According to the website, “The original sound is faithfully reproduced across all frequency ranges, achieving the beautiful, comfortable sound that the Victor brand aims for.” The company uses a combination of rosewood and wood pulp for the diaphragm, a membrane inside the earphone’s driver that vibrates to produce sound.
The Bluetooth 6.0 earbuds feature noise cancellation, spatial audio, up to 31.5 hours of playtime (including charging time with the case), and are IP55 rated for rain and dust protection. You can charge their case wirelessly, and JVC Kenwood says there’s a low-latency mode for gaming and video.
However, the most interesting feature might be what the company calls a “self-healing coating,” which can remove minor scratches over time, just like the paint found on some car models. It will be available in Sunburst Brown, which features a guitar-like wood finish, or Piano Black, both of which include an image of the iconic dog Victor. Nettle“The voice of his master” is inscribed.
There’s no word yet on availability in the US, but the earbuds are scheduled to launch for around $270 in Japan in November.
