In the case of the Woolroom Luxury Wooly mattress, wool is considered a sustainable, high-quality and practical material. The wool used is largely ‘farm to mattress’, with each bed coming with a QR code that traces the wool in your bed back to the British farm it came from. Wool is only collected from farms that have been verified to meet specifications UK Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Woolroom had a few UK based certificates I wasn’t aware of – nothing like a crash course! Here’s what this mattress offers: Testimony of fraudulent sponsor which verifies that the wool used is indeed authentic and traceable British wool; the Woolmark certificate It’s the real deal and the purest version of wool out there; Allergies in the UK To show that it is resistant to allergens. and Validation of biocomposites at Bangor Universitywhich indicates that it is free of volatile organic compounds (kind of like… GreenGuard Gold Certification here in the states).
In this Hybrid mattressAside from the cover, the main components are fleece and 8,500 nano, micro and standard coils in individual pockets. Wool is a jack of all trades in the mattress world, as it can be used for support, airflow, cushioning, and even as a natural material. Fire retardants. Specifically, the outer shell is made of a merino wool blend with a hand-tufted surface, which helps keep the top layer of wool in place.
I received this mattress as a sample from the manufacturer for testing purposes. It was donated to charity upon completion of testing, but I’m someone who does a thorough analysis of the overall value and quality of a product for the price. For a luxury handmade mattress at an affordable price, I wish the shipping could match that power. The Woolroom Luxury Wooly hybrid mattress has left Woolroom’s Greenville, South Carolina, factory. I got instant tracking information, until the truck dropped the box on my doorstep. I was actually surprised that it was arranged in a box, because, given the feedback about the handcrafted construction, I was expecting it to be fully assembled, like what I’ve seen with similar brands like Saatva.
Regardless, I quickly took the mattress out of its box to allow it time to inflate and breathe. Due to all the coils, this product is heavy and requires two people to handle its weight. I highly encourage you to enlist a friend to help you through this process. However, it didn’t take long for the mattress to inflate right out of the box. The mattress I received was 11 inches long, but Woolroom stated that your mattress can be up to 12 inches long, which is the nature of the natural materials I think. But I still call this bed the “Woolly Mammoth” just because of how impactful it is in my studio.

I have a hard time sticking to just one sleeping position, and I rely on mattresses with a bouncy feel to support me no matter which position I choose. This is it Mattress term It’s called responsiveness, and it’s essential for situations like mine that require ongoing support. Right now, I’m trying so hard to be Side sleeper Due to lower back pain, I chose the medium lift. “Tension” is the brand’s term for the firmness of a mattress, and I was looking for enough cushioning for my shoulders and hips while still maintaining enough support for my spine. I usually choose medium-firm mattresses when testing for responsive coverage, pressure relief, and lumbar support, but the Luxury Wooly only comes in two types: medium and firm. Woolroom rates the medium a 7 out of 10 in firmness. If you choose the company, Woolroom rates it 8.5 out of 10.
