OnePlus wants to sell you its new flagship phone; She doesn’t know when she’ll be able to. Like many other things these days, the OnePlus 15 is in limbo thanks to the fallout from the government shutdown.
15 It was launched earlier this year in ChinaOnePlus announced its pricing for the United States: $899 for the version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. This is the same as the OnePlus 13, which is pretty neat when you consider the whole tariff situation. But due to the federal shutdown, OnePlus was unable to get the final FCC certification it needs to sell the phone in the US. Even with the shutdown over, it’s difficult to say how long it will take the FCC to pursue a month’s worth of action. According to a statement from the company’s head of marketing, Spenser Blank, OnePlus has submitted the required testing and is just waiting for the final stamp of approval:
As is the case with every smartphone manufacturer, the US Federal Communications Commission certifies OnePlus devices before they are sold in the US. As a result of the government shutdown, device certifications have been delayed. After that, US sales of the OnePlus 15 will be delayed until they are secured. The OnePlus 15 has already completed all the required tests from recognized FCC laboratories and the certification application has been officially submitted. We hope the approvals will come quickly and as a result, we can deliver the OnePlus 15 to our US customers quickly.
Anyone interested in the OnePlus 15 can sign up to get an email alert when it goes on sale by heading to oneplus.com/us. And there’s one major reason to consider doing this if you’re shopping for a new phone: The 15 offers some of the best battery life you can find in the US, thanks to its use of carbon-silicon technology.
Chinese manufacturers such as OnePlus’ parent company have embraced the new technology, which allows for thinner, higher-capacity batteries than traditional lithium-ion batteries. The OnePlus 13 used the same type of battery, but the 15 comes with a massive 7,300 mAh capacity compared to its 6,000 mAh predecessor. If you live in the US and have been waiting for a phone with two days of real battery life, the wait is almost over. You’ll just have to hold on a little longer.
