WhatsApp Officially coming to Apple watchWith the new WatchOS application that supports conversations, voice messages, and call notifications.
The Meta-owned chat app has announced its launch In a blog post on Tuesday. The update is supposed to provide better access to WhatsApp’s feature set when using the Apple Watch. Previously, Apple Watch owners could only reply to WhatsApp chats when they received a notification of an incoming message. Now, the WatchOS app should provide users with the flexibility to send and receive messages and access chat history at any time.
WhatsApp said that the new Apple Watch application will also support photos and stickers, and will maintain end-to-end encryption of conversations. The application will run on Apple Watch Series 4 And later, provided that the clock is at least running WatchOS 10.
Given that my First generation Apple Watch SE Can’t update to WatchOS 11 or WatchOS 26I’m glad that the chat service will be available to many of us who haven’t done so recently Upgraded to a newer Apple Watch.

WhatsApp has been available as a WearOS app since 2023, when it was launched for Android wearables such as Google Pixel watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch. Meanwhile, Meta owned Facebook Messenger has stopped working on the Apple Watch Again in 2023.
WhatsApp says the initial launch of the Apple Watch is the beginning of a better chat experience for the wrist-worn device.
A company representative told CNET that the current version of the app requires your iPhone to be turned on and nearby to work, and it likely won’t work when your Apple Watch is connected over the cellular network while your iPhone is turned off. This is different from Linked devices feature in WhatsAppwhich allows computers, tablets and other phones to access WhatsApp regardless of whether your phone is turned on or not.
