Surfshark’s new AI feature weeds out phishing emails


Targeted phishing emails may be a thing of the past Surfshark’s One and One Plus Package subscribers. Surfshark is VPN and cybersecurity company Which offers packages that include various privacy and security tools. It’s now adding a phishing email screening tool that filters out phishing attacks from Gmail subscribers’ inboxes.

The new AI tool has been trained to analyze emails for signs of tampering. The company announced on Mondayincluding suspicious content, sender information, and other common characteristics of Phishing attempts. It also scans links in the email copy to check for potential malware.

VPNs, or virtual private networks, are important privacy and security tools for any Internet user. They anonymize your Internet traffic by routing it through their servers, which can be anywhere in the world. The new tool is currently available for Google Chrome and Gmail, as it is tied to the latest update to the Surfshark Chrome browser extension. The feature is not available in non-Chrome browsers.

A Surfshark representative did not immediately respond to a request for further comment.

How to use Surfshark’s new AI-powered fraud email checker

To use the new Surfshark tool, you need an active Surfshark One or One Plus subscription (Starts at $59 for 27 months) and the Surfshark Chrome browser extension installed on your device.

Once installed, access the extension settings and enable the new tool in the Fraud Email Checker tab. This will allow you to use the feature in your Gmail account.

You’ll see a Verify Email button when you open a suspicious email within Chrome. Clicking that will launch our AI-based fraud email checker and filter out phishing and malware attempts.

Surfshark currently allows an unlimited number of devices to be linked to a single account, so you can share this tool with your friends and family.

Surfshark says it deletes your data after the fraud checker request is complete.
