Space isn’t just about rockets, it’s about revenue as well

Broy’s talk focuses on the factory of the future, where microgravity becomes a manufacturing tool, not a science fiction setting. It will reveal how Varda is transforming the vacuum of space into a production line for high-value materials – from new life-saving pharmaceuticals to more powerful fiber-optic cables, and why orbit may soon become the most profitable real estate in the known universe.

Build interstellar factories

As a former SpaceX engineer who helped fly Dragon on eight missions to the International Space Station, William Bruey knows what it takes to innovate where gravity doesn’t apply. Now at Varda Space Industries, he is pioneering a new kind of factory – one that orbits the Earth, creates amazing materials, and then returns to the atmosphere to deliver products that can’t be made anywhere else.

Prior to launching Varda, Broy led global equity technology at Bank of America and earned degrees in applied physics (Cornell) and systems engineering. A pilot and engineer at heart, he also works at home coding algorithms or flying his own Cozy MK4 plane. Learn more about this in our Space Stage session.

This isn’t just a space story, it’s a startup story. Sign up for TechCrunch Disrupt And see how vision, physics and adventure collide as Broy takes on the space stage.
