Microsoft AI announces its first internally generated image generator

Microsoft AI just announced its first text-to-image generator, MAI-Image-1designed and developed internally. The technology giant, which recently announced… The first internally developed AI modelscalled the new photo creator “the next step in our journey.”

Microsoft says it asked for feedback from creative professionals to avoid “repetitive or generic output.” The company claims that the MAI-Image-1 “excels” at photorealistic images such as lightning, landscapes, and more. It can process orders and produce images faster than “larger, slower models.” The model has already earned a place in the top 10 on LMArena, an AI benchmarking site where humans compare the outputs of different systems and vote on the best ones.

We haven’t had a chance to test Microsoft’s new image builder, but as soon as we can, we’ll report back on its safety guardrails. The company says it is committed to “ensuring safe and responsible results.”
