Halloween provides the perfect excuse to get scared without actually being in danger. From haunted houses to creepy horror stories and jump scares while trick-or-treating, it’s safe spooky season. In this found gem, things start to go awry for the team as they build a haunted house before it becomes a bloody graveyard on opening night.
Hill House LLC It is a found footage horror film filmed in a documentary format. It was released in 2015 and has become one of the classic films in the horror genre over the past decade. It is currently streaming for free on Tubi.
I’ve been a fan of found footage horror since the original Blair Witch Project in 1999. Since then, I’ve inhaled every flick in the genre I can get my hands on. Hell House LLC delivers a creepy, dread-filled cliffhanger that avoids the pitfalls of the genre and sends chills up my spine every time I watch it.

A haunting attraction goes horribly wrong at Hell House LLC.
The film begins by recounting a tragedy that occurred five years ago, when something went terribly wrong at an attraction, called “Hell House,” and left a trail of bodies behind. It uses a combination of interviews with witnesses, journalists, and footage from the event itself to establish the scene of the tragedy at the Abaddon Hotel, all through the lens of a local documentarian searching for the truth about what went wrong on Hell House’s opening night.
Hell House LLC starts with how things end, which means that when you watch everything happen, you know it’s all going to end in tragedy. Before she meets the Hell House crew, she sees the aftermath of the night it all went wrong. From a panicked 911 call to a local videographer sneaking into the abandoned hotel to take a look, the film has a lot of questions running through your head, but ultimately no answers.
When local documentary filmmaker Diane Graves manages to interview missing crew member Sarah Havell, things start to get interesting. Sarah has been out of the public eye since the night it all went wrong, but she has agreed to sit down and explain what happened – not only the night Hell House opened its doors to guests but also in the weeks leading up to the tragedy.
The growing dread as things get worse inside the Abaddon Hotel makes this a film worth watching.
When Sarah arrives for the interview, she brings with her tapes she has never seen before. It details the experiences of the Hell House crew, from finding the house to encountering supernatural events before opening night. While things were initially a bit quiet with the group of 20 people exploring the hotel and discussing their plans, things soon started to go south. The Abaddon Hotel is having a lot of problems, and the crew plans to stay the night there until the show ends.
The build-up to opening night makes the film worth its 90-minute running time. The scenes are full of fear as the audience anticipates something terrible to come that seems invisible to the characters. Doors open and close, shadowy figures are captured at the edges of the camera, and as tension builds, everything inside the hotel becomes more unsettling. Sarah and her friends aren’t immune either, as each of them begins to be affected by the house.
Things don’t come to a head until the curtain officially rises, but the terror that infuses every scene as you approach the start of the chase will have you screaming at the characters on screen to get out of here. Unfortunately for the Hell House staff, they’ve moved on to opening night, which may be exactly what spooky things have been waiting for at the hotel.
I won’t spoil the third act when events escalate from extremely creepy to blood curdling. When things start to go wrong, they go spectacularly wrong, leading to the shots that begin the film. The interview between Sarah and Diane ends with the truth about what happened that night, whether anyone believes it or not.
Hell House LLC has reached cult classic status for good reason, and is one of the horror films I play on repeat. The best part is that the story is not individual. Instead, there are actually four consequences. You can watch the first three movies on Tubi, but Hell House LLC: Origins is on Shudder and Hell House Lineage was just released in theaters on August 20, 2025.
