The long, busy and controversial session of California ended this weekend. Here’s what you need to know:

  • The legislators have handed over Gavin Newsom Governor One of the most extensive major repairs to California Energy and Climate Policy over decades. The six -god package that went over the weekend was identified as a way to relieve gas and electricity bills while maintaining state air -conditioning signature programs. “Tariffs are expected to receive some relief through measures to reduce the cost of construction lines and expanded energy loan to limit and trade aimed at thinning growing energy accounts,” ” Alejandro Lazo report and Jeanne QuangS
  • Legislators have paved the way for a construction boom near transit stations in many of the most populated areas of the state. The new bill overrides local development solutions, allowing apartment developers to build residential buildings up to 75 feet, regardless of local zoning or protest maps. “During the legislative year, performing with controversial housing accounts designed to launch more construction in California,” ” Ben Christopher writesThis new bill “is one of the most vibrant”. Like the energy package, Newsom is expected to sign the law.
  • Adjusting efforts when AI makes subsequent decisions for your life you will have to wait another year. The three -year campaign would require businesses and government agencies to tell you when AI is used to make important decisions for you, such as housing approvals, school admission, hiring and dismissal and many other decisions for things such as health, criminal justice, state benefits and others. Harry Johnson reports While California has adopted more regulation of AI than any other state, the European Union and Colorado have already passed these types of detection laws.

The legislature is already out of the session until January.
