European search engines QWANT and Ecosia said on Wednesday that they started to provide search inquiries through an index they developed together, To standWhich aims to be a cheaper and more focused alternative to Google and Bing.
Last year, the French -focused French search engine struck a joint project with ECOSIA for the German non -profit search engine, to develop European research index. It is called the European search perspective (EUSP), and it now aims to serve about 50 % of French inquiries and 33 % of German inquiries by the end of the year.
QWANT said it uses the new index to run some of its features, such as artificial intelligence summaries for research, and Ecosia plans to add some features of artificial intelligence soon to its platform as well.
EUSP is also in conversations with companies to stimulate the adoption of their index to enable the search in applications. It is worth noting that it is targeting Chatbots, as Stan offers a cheaper alternative to Google and Bing.
“If you use ChatGPT or any Chatbot from AI, they all establish knowledge with search on the web (…) Our index can operate deep research and the features of the artificial intelligence summary. Google and Bing solutions are also expensive, and our indicator can provide energy search features at ten costs,” said Ecosia CEO.
Eusp, like ProtonPaying to develop a European technology group that does not depend on technology from the United States or China.
“The timing could not be more urgent. The result of the US elections for 2024 European policy and innovators only reminded Europe when it comes to the basic digital infrastructure. Many European classes, clouds, and class of Amnesty International are built on American data.”
