The Openai deal to buy Windsurf has been suspended, and instead Google will employ CEO of Windsurf Varun Mohan, co -founder Douglas Chen, and some Windsurf search and development employees from the company to join DeepMind, Google and Windsurf on Friday.
Mohan and Windsurf will focus on Google DeepMind coding efforts and are largely working on Gemini. Google will not have any control or stake in Windsurf, but it will take an unimaginable license for some Windsurf technology.
Actually, Jeff Wang, Windsurf business president, temporary CEO, will be Graham Moreno, Vice President of Global Sales, New Windsurf President.
“Gemini is one of the best models available, and we have invested in its advanced abilities of developers,” Google’s spokesman Chris Papas told Verge in a statement. “We are excited to welcome some of the best coding talents of artificial intelligence from Windsurf to Google DeepMind to enhance our job coding work.”
“We are excited to join Google DeepMind with some Windsurf,” Mohan and Chen said in a statement. “We are proud of what Windsurf has created over the past four years and we are excited to see him go forward with their global team and start the next stage.”
Google did not share the extent of her pushing to bring the team. Openai has previously been reported that it buys Windsurf for $ 3 billion.
