For the first time ever, you will be able to make phone calls and receive them directly on your Mac computer. IPhone is not required.
During which WWDC 2025 KeynoteApple announced that the phone application will officially come to Mac as part of a wider batch to deepen the continuity between its devices. The new desktop version of the phone application will appear alongside iOS 26 and McCos Tahoe 26 Later this year, Mac users have given full access to communication features that were previously limited to iPhone.

Using the new Mac phone application, users will be able to make and receive calls, access their iPhone contacts, and even take advantage of the new iOS 26 features, including Hold Assist (that is waiting for you) and Live translations (Which provides actual time translations during a conversation).

The calls received will appear directly on the Mac screen, with the completion of the full -size connection images, so you will know exactly who continues.
This addition is part of the Apple’s larger goal to make the boundaries between the devices feel invisible. The MAC phone application enhances the continuity experience, which already allows users to deliver emails and messages and browsing between Apple devices. Now, the phone in your pocket is available on the desktop.
Integration does not stop there: Apple also adds support to live activities to Mac. If you start something like delivering food or sharing a ride on your iPhone, you will now be able to track it from your Mac list as well.
