It absorbs the move, but exhaustion helps

It moves absorbs. Since I left the college more than a decade ago, I only lived in apartments, so I had to get a good life and manage my stock before, during and after the move.

Many of what makes it possible is that I really like to vanish. But it did not come naturally – it’s a skill that I had to practice, learn and sometimes fail. So I thought I might share my experiences here if it was found useful for the current or future movement.

I got good in retreat when my wife (then a girlfriend) decided to reduce her size from one bedroom to studio. We liked one bedroom for many reasons, including her view of the space needle in Seattle. But in the end, we realized that we could bear to live in a more susceptible part of the city if we can press the studio.

This means calculating with the size of the things that we brought each to the apartment. Our move to one bedroom apartment was two people who were gathering their separate lives in one. Our transfer to the studio means that we really had to decide what would make the jump to the next stage of our lives. It was an emotional thing.

We made the decision to reduce their size before we already fill things. This was present when Mary Kondo The magic of changing life for arrangement He was exploding, and while I know that the book (and the surrounding speech) became something of the M., he had a lot of advice that we found very useful at that time and we used all our movements yet.

When two people move to the studio, it is good to keep things simple.

Yes, Kondo’s concept to preserve the things that “Spark Joy” is mysterious, inaccurate and inaccurate. But if you are facing a mountain of clothes or a pile of books that you know you should sort in order to provide space in your new place, this is a great frame that you can use to start getting rid of those piles. With all you refused, I found that starting is the most difficult part, but once the ball rolls, it becomes much easier.

I found that I am more successful when I start with things that I really don’t care about. The move is already exhausted, so diving first in a set of amazing tools but the beloved is not the best tactic for me. Usually sorting through clothes is the place where I start – I keep a basic clothes cabinet and do not buy a lot of clothes, so I am not very precious about them. I save tools and games later (I work in freedomAfter all).

Another thing you learned: Once you decide what to remove from your home, you still have to find a place for those things. This can be its source of frustration, especially if you are on time before a big step. We have an article everything about How to get rid of the things you have reviewedIf you want some ideas.

But as soon as you roll over the retreat, you can feel comfortable. I find great relief in sorting through things, finding what I do not need, and getting it out of the house to free space. I like so much that I have already learned – in the difficult way – so that you can take things too far.

My greatest regret is that before this step, I delivered many books that, although they did not “supervised” at me, had an emotional value. I do all my readings to a large extent on an electronic reader, so I thought that, to provide the space (and my back), I can get rid of every book I own. This included my annual high school book, which I justified because I never looked at it and because they sat at the bottom of a box in my cabinet. But now that I gave birth to a child, I hope I have been deceived somewhere in a place so that I can show her to my child when they grow up.

Also, I should not raise my fake old copy Harry Potter Series I grew up with. Likewise, they took space and did not read it actively, and although it was a difficult option to throw them, I thought the time had come to me to move forward. But despite what we know now JK RowlingI still have good memories of these books, such as the seizure of the Quidedch World Cup for a thousand or wait for the Midnight Book version with friends. I hope I can capture and turn them again.

I was very excited about the decline in old devices and game devices. Certainly, I haven’t played Nintendo 3ds a lot anymore, but now I really hope that I can play some of the games I collected.

I found that, in general, I do not miss the vast majority of the things that I got rid of

Even if I have some regret, I found that, in general, I do not miss the vast majority of the things that I got rid of. Building those muscles that fell the first time helped us significantly with subsequent moves. When we moved from Seattle to Portland, we chose a studio again for cheaper rent, and we were able to do this because we had no set of things. This also means that we can put everything we possess in one of the younger U-HALLS, which made a crossed step less painful than it could have been.

We are no longer in studio anymore. We eventually moved to an apartment from two bedrooms because we knew that we wanted to start a family, and we realized that the studio might be somewhat narrow for two adults and an increasing child. (If you are a parent who raises a family in the studio, then I salute you) a lot From the equipment. We have become good in keeping our property under control, which is a particularly valuable skill when it deals with the chaos of a small child.

If we have to move again – and assume, one day we will do – we hope that we are able to do the desired decline with a little stress. Rap disposal sometimes gets bad rap music, and I will never say it is easy. But it is a skill that made me happy because I should learn through many moves. I know that I can do this, the next step will eventually be a little easier.
