Jetbrains Mellum is released, “Open” artificial intelligence coding model

Jetbrains, the company behind a set of common application development tools, released the first “open” model to celebrate the coding.

“It is designed to integrate in the tools of professional developers (such as smart code suggestions in integrated developers environments), coding assistants who work with artificial intelligence materials, searching for the understanding and generation of the code, and the Mellum is completely suitable for educational applications and microscopic control experiences,” Jetbrains explains in a technical report.

Jetbrains says she trained Mellum, licensed by Apache 2.0, on a group of data collections including the licensed code of GitHub and Wikipedia articles in English. The training took about 20 days on a set of 256 H200 Nvidia GPUS.

Mellum takes some work to wake up. The basic model cannot be used outside the box; It should be first. While Jetbrians has provided some Mellum models seized on Python, the company warns that it aims to “appreciate the potential capabilities”-not spread in a production environment.

There is no doubt that the code created by artificial intelligence is to change how to build programs, but it also offers new safety challenges.
