Ticketmaster may have violated consumer protection laws

UK Consumer Markets Authority (CMA) Update inside Investigation of Ticketmaster After selling Oasis Reunion Tour tickets, it resulted in largely inflated ticket prices and many consumer complaints. CMA said the results of the investigation justify, “consulting the ticket platform on changes to ensure that the fans get the correct information, at the appropriate time.”

What causes anxiety to CMA are the practices of putting signs and information in Ticketmaster. In its update, CMA stated that Ticketmaster set some tickets as “Platinum”, which it sells more than twice the standard price without adequately informing consumers that the increasing price does not correspond to better seats or other privileges. CMA has also faced a problem with Ticketmaster while dealing with permanent room tickets. He explained that the company sold a cheaper category of permanent tickets first, then surprised the buyers who were waiting for wide lines online with a more expensive ticket.

According to CMA, it works with Ticketmaster to ensure that this does not happen again. “We are concerned that the oasis fans did not get the information they needed, or maybe they were misled in buying tickets that they thought were better than they were,” said Haley Fletcher, Consumer Protection Director. “We expect Ticketmaster to work with us to address these concerns, in the future, fans can make informed decisions when purchasing tickets.”
