25 Best PS2 Games of All Time

SOCOM US Navy Seals holds the distinct honor in the PS2 library of being the first online PS2 game with voice chat.

But voice chat wasn’t limited to online play. In single-player mode, players take on the role of the team leader of a squad of Marines who must complete missions by eliminating terrorists and rescuing hostages. As a squad leader, you can command your computer-controlled teammate to move, attack a target, provide cover, and other commands via your voice using your headset. The technology didn’t always work, but it was an innovative mechanic at the time.

Where US Navy SOCOM shines is in online play. This was the first time console players could play a team-based tactical game online, where two teams faced off in intense matches, and all it took was one shot to put you down.
