$100 off Petkit PuraMax 2 now (2025)

Like a pet Tech writer here at WIRED, I test a lot of them Automatic garbage bins (My cats and I have tested more than a dozen so far.) In fact, there’s a giant box staring at me right now, demanding that I film the process of unboxing and setting up the newest automatic litter box I’ve ever received. Because I’ve experienced a lot, I have a lot of opinions. Although there is AI-powered models with Built-in camerasI still think the best model for most people is… Petkit Puramax 2.

If you don’t want to watch your cat poop, but want a hygienic litter box that keeps odor away and reduces cleaning time, look no further than this mid-priced model.

I think this is a great option for most people. I recommend it for those who aren’t crazy helicopter cat parents, but want a cheaper model than some of our other picks. It’s easy to use, compact, and actually smells great. It’s especially good for neat freaks like me: with triple odor control, a closed litter box, and… Odor eliminator accessory That’s sitting in the trash, citrus Deodorizing spray Which goes off after every cleaning and randomly throughout the day to ensure the litter box stays fresh.

When a cat enters the box, its weight is displayed on the front for easy viewing, and the app records each time it has been used, how long it has been used, when the cleaning cycle starts and ends, and when the deodorizing spray is released. Additionally, if you don’t want to rely on the app to change settings or start a manual cycle, pet groomers can also change settings manually via the buttons on the front.

After testing a lot of these, I noticed their quirks. Many of the bins I tested don’t swivel up, so filling them with clean litter can be cramped and uncomfortable. So, perhaps best of all, when it’s time to refill it with clean litter, the bin rotates so the opening is at the top for easier filling (trust, it saves your back).

most Automatic garbage bins Hovering in the $500 range (although I’ve tested larger models), I think this model is priced fairly premium at a regular $500. However, it has become more affordable with this sale, bringing the price down to under $400. It’s an investment for sure, but it will make your house cleaner (and you and your cat happier, I promise!).
